St. Paul’S Parish Nnobi Hosts Archbishop Val -147 Candidated Confirmed

The Catholic community of St. Paul’s Parish Nnobi on Sunday May 3rd 2015 rolled out their drums to receive the Chief Shepherd His Grace Most Rev. Valerian M. Okeke who visited the parish.

            Major activities marking the visit include the commissioning of a new Grotto of Our Blessed Mother Mary built at the parish, commissioning of water borehole sponsored by the Honourable Commissioner for Education Prof Kate Azuka Omenugha and the blessing of the renovated reverend fathers’ house.

            Preaching at the Holy Mass that commenced the occasion, the Episcopal vicar Nnobi region Very Rev. Fr. John Anosike who represented the Archbishop charged faithful to maintain permanent contact with Jesus, advising that people of God should strive to serve God in action not in words.

            In an address delivered by the parish council secretary, Chief Michael Nwosu, the Catholic community commended the Prelate over the culture of excellence he maintained in the Archdiocese, disclosing that their parish is one of the beneficiaries of his spiritual, economic and political empowerment.

            The parish also expressed gratitude to the Chief Shepherd for the blessing them with dynamic eloquent and hardworing parish priest Rev. Fr. Barth Nnakwe. Few of the giant strides of the parish under the current P.P include reconstruction of St. Mary’s Catholic Central School Nnobi, fencing and renovating of priest’s house, completion of the chapel of Adoration and church terrazzo, among others.

            Responding, the Archbishop Representative extolled the parishioners describing them as generous and good hearted people. He also lauds the parish priest for his commitment in transforming the parish.

            The parish priest Fr. Nnakwe in an appreciation, eulogized the Archbishop for visiting them. Stating the Prelate had a special love for them. He also commended the parishioners for their unalloyed support and sacrifices.

            On what motivated her to sink a borehole for the parish, Prof Omenugha said the gesture is an act of thanksgiving to God, stating that all her life is about appreciating God Almighty. She also made it that their parish was built in love and understanding.

            While congratulating Archbishop Val for the gift of an auxiliary Bishop, the commissioner pledged.

            Also in his remarks, Lord Dr. Michael Cosmas Omenugha (Ichie Oba….. Nnobi) said that with the coming of their parish priest, the parish started witnessing speedy development. He also commended his loving wife Prof Omenugha for the borehole she donated to the parish. His word: “We don’t have a borehole in our compound, but I supported her to build one for the church”.

            Dignitaries in attendance include Commissioner for health Dr. Akabuike, Commissioner for information Hon Tony Onyima, HRN Igwe Prof Nwuneh of Igbakwe, Commissioner for Economic Planning and budget Prof Solo Chukwulobelu. The legislator Elect for Idemili South constituency Barr. Chuka Ezenwune who spoke to the press expressed optionson that the Prelate’s visit will impart more blessings on the community.
