The remains of Late Rev. Fr. Augustine Anyanwu who died in April 8, 2015 after a brief illness was last Monday May 11, 2015 committed to the mother earth at a burial ground located inside Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity Onitsha.

The burial Mass attended by Priests, religious and faithful in their hundreds was presided over the Chief Shepherd Most Rev. Dr. Valerian Mmaduka Okeke and assisted by his auxiliary Bishop Denis Isizoh.

In a Homily, Rev. Fr. Justine Ileka called on the faithful to always strive to imitate Christ so that they can be rightly addressed as “Omekannaya” (someone that behaves like his or her father). According to him righteousness cannot be achieved only through avoiding sin, stating that people of God should continue to show mercy, love to one another.

His words: It is a very good thing to abstain from sin but avoiding sins without good work is not enough to quality one for heaven. Those who are living just for themselves are not good Christians. Your live should affect the next person positively” he advised

Fr. Ileka further described the deceased as hardworking priest who left no stone unturned in ensuring that the gospel of Christ is propagated. The late Fr. Augustine was also described a bonus Pastor from the Cradle, very calm, very reflective, very quiet, very gentle, a  contemplative and unassuming fellow. Other reports disclosed that he was dutiful, good hearted, gentle, docile, devoted and highly recommended for the sacred priesthood.

Shortly after the Mass, an absolution prayers were emulated by His Lordship Bishop Isizoh while the dust to dust was performed by Archbishop Val.
