Eulogies As Fr. Jude Mgbobukwa Celebrates His Priestly Silver Jubilee

Torrent of encomiums poured in  last Saturday, August 29, 2015  when the Episcopal Vicar of Onitsha Region cum Parish Priest Christ the King Parish Onitsha Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Jude Chukwuemeka Mgbobukwa  celebrated his priestly silver jubilee at his parish Compound.

            The event which was spectacular indeed attracted the presence of respected dignitaries including the Archbishop of Onitsha, His Grace Most Rev. Valerian M Okeke, Auxiliary Bishop Onitsha Most Rev. Denis Isizoh, among others.

            Preaching at the Holy Mass, Rev. Fr. Charles Okwumuo described the jubilarian as an action priest who is into pastoral charity. “He did not just love his parishioners, Fr, Mgbobukwa encourages, cares and assist the members of the parish. He is good hearted, tolerant, dedicated and committed to his priestly ministry. He always exudes goodwill embedded in sincere charity”.

            “Within his few years in C.K.P Onitsha, his transformation agenda has given the parish a face lift while the fathers’ house which was at construction stage during his arrival has been completed and commissioned. Also being a hardworking priest, he saw to the completion and dedication of   the Church building in the parish”.

            Fr. Okwumuo further noted that to be a priest is a sacrifice of which the jubilarian has performed and it still performing creditably.

            Archbishop Val in a speech said the silver jubilee is a celebration of faith, joy and God’s directives for the past 25 years. He enjoined priests to cue into pastoral charity like Fr. Mgbobukwa is doing.

            In an address jointly signed by the Vice Chairman Parish Council Hon. Frank Ik Ibeziako and the Secretary Chief Philip Asika, the parishioner while congratulating Fr. Mgbobukwa revealed that since his arrival at their parish, they have witnessed an out pouring of God’s multiple blessings and favours.

            The jubilarian in a response eulogized Archbishop Val, and his Auxiliary Bishop Denis Isizoh for gracing the occasion, stating that their care, love and support contributed immensely to the success of the event. He also commended others priests, parishioners, relatives, friends who came to cheer him up. Others he appreciated include Sir John Odike, Mr. & Mrs Leo Eneh, Mr. & Mrs Chidiebere Nwabueze, Engr. & Mrs E. Agosiobo , Rev. Fr. Prof Hycainth Icheoku, Very Rev. Fr. Muozie among others.

 Hon Frank Ibeziako who spoke to the press described Fr. Mgbobukwa as dynamic and hardworking priest.

            One of the jubilarian siblings Barr Okey Mgbobukwa in an interview with the press described his elder brother as a man of people who is accommodating a lot. He does not discriminate. At his tender age, his priestly call started manifesting as he used lead Block Rosary Centre. He was more religious among us his siblings in that era.

            Highpoint of the occasion was the presentation of a new Lexus Jeep to the jubilarian by the Catholic Community.

            In a separate interview with Trinitas, Fr. Mgbobukwa said his most joy comes from the fact that he is appreciating the presence of God in him for the past 25 years as priest. “The Sacramenst of the Church and the Eucharist are the major sources of my joy. “Let us constantly persevere in our relationship with God. Let us be charitable, forgiven, as these makes us good Christians,” he advised.

            Fr. Mgbobukwa a native of Ubulu in Orlu West Local Government Area of Imo State was ordained a Catholic Priest on the 25th of August 1990.
