NCCWO Onitsha Region Celebrates Golden Jubilee

The Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity Onitsha was a beehive of activities between 18th and 20th September 2015 when thousands of Catholic Women from across the Old Onitsha Ecclesiastical Region thronged the Basilica for the golden jubilee celebration of the organization under the auspices of the National Council of Catholic Women Organisation (NCCWO).

            It was a fulfilling moment for the women when Archbishop Valerian Okeke who presided over a solemn Mass to commemorate the event told the women in his homily that the period of jubilee affords everyone the opportunity to renew his or her life and take stock of the past and look forward for a new beginning.

            Jubilee year he pointed out, affords freedom to slaves of various colourations and allows a fresh beginning of life for the downtrodden and less privileged.

            In her address, the President, National Council of Catholic Women Organisation Chief Mrs. Agnes Erogunaye expressed joy that the NCCWO has contributed immensely to the overall work of evangelization in Nigeria adding that the entire women were glad that the golden Jubilee celebration happened in their own time.

            In her contribution, the host Director General of C.W.O Onitsha, Lady Beatrice Madueke expressed joy at the success of the event.

            She told Trinitas on telephone from the United States of America that she was happy that the event afforded some of the members from other diocese to visit the mother diocese where the C.W.O took its root before spreading worldwide.

            Lady Madueke expressed gratitude to the Archbishop of Onitsha Most Rev. Valerian Okeke for receiving and providing enabling environment for the visitors.

            The mother founder of the C.W.O Lady V.V.I Okoye shed tears of joy as she observed the C.W.O project which she co-initiated blossom to a huge and successful organization.

            Others who spoke and received awards include the state commissioner for Education, Professor Kate Omenugha.

            The co-ordiantors of the event in Onitsha include the secretary General of the C.W.O, Lady Rose Okpala, Lady Chinwe Ezeliora and Lady Oraganisers of different zones.
