Archbishop Valerian Okeke Pays Pastoral Visit To St. Gregory De Great Parish, Lyiowa Odekpe– Commissions New Rectory And Confirms Over 1000 Candidates

Parishioners at St. Gregory de Great parish lyiowa odekpe on Saturday 7th November 2015 rolled out their drums to welcome the Archbishop of Onitsha most Rev. Valerian Okeke who paid a pastoral visit to the parish.

Part of the activities marking the visit was the commissioning of new father’s house and the confirmation of over 1000 candidates.

In a holy mass that commenced the event, Archbishop Val. Okeke while delivering a homily described a pastoral visit of a bishop as a mission of love that brings huge blessing for the people of God and as well strengthens their faith in Christ. He also stressed on the need for total consecration to the will of God and also urged the faithful to speak the language of love, he explained that this is the language the apostles spoke on the day of Pentecost that people heard them in different language and believed in God. He charged them to love one another and do things with great love for that is the greatest gift of all the Holy Spirit brought to us on the day of Pentecost. He further charged the confirmation candidates to be living witnesses and servant of Christ. In the welcome address at the reception the parish eulogized the Bishop for visiting them for the second time, describing his visit as a huge blessing to them and thanked him for showing them great love. Describing the prelate as humble, dedicated, loving and hardworking father who cares for his flocks. The St. Gregory de great parish, lyiowa Odekpe through their address highlighted the fast growth of the parish under the administration of the parish priest very Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Egwuoba which includes construction and completion of a gigantic father’s house, expanding of the church, facilitating spiritual growth of the members, disclosing his spirituality has brought about many converts.

In response, the Archbishop commended the unanimous effort of the parishioners, urging them to maintain a strong faith in God who never failsthose that put their trust in him. He also extolled the parish priest for his commitments and achievements, adding that he should not relent in his transformation agenda in the parish.

The parish priest, Fr. Emmanuel Egwuoba in appreciation thanked the prelate for his indefatigable love and care on St. Gregory de great parish lyiowa odekpe, asserting that his presence has really boosted their faith. He also thanked the parishioners and guest for their support, love and hardwork.

The vice chairman of the parish council Sir Onah Michael KSM also contributing said they were happy to witness the great event and also thanked the chief Shepherd   for his care and love over their parish.

Mr Ibeto Christopher okonkwo chairman planning and building committee also thanked the Archbishop for commissioning the new rectory and for confirming their children.

In an interview with the parish CMO chairman Sir Vincent Odiri he expressed his sincere gratitude to God almighty and to the prelate for his visit, he further posited that the parish priest Rev. Emmanuel Egwuoba has inculcated the spirit of oneness to their parish.

In a similar way the CWO Secretary Mrs Chioma Nwafeli expressed her happiness and prayed that God in his infinite mercy bless the bishop, parish priest, priests and guest who made out time to witness the event.

During the holy mass, Archbishop Val. administeredthe sacrament of confirmation on candidates numbering 1000.

The highpoint of the event was the blessing of the new rectory. Other Features at the event includes presentation of gifts to the Archbishop by the parishioners, St. Gregory cultural dance troupes among others.
