Grief, tears and sorrow enveloped the entire Madonna and Awuda Village Nnobi Catholic Communities as the remains of one of their beloved sons and member, Architect Greg Chigbogu Ezenwelu were laid to rest in his compound at Awuda, nnobi.

Before the burial, a burial Mass was celebrated for the peaceful repose of his gentle soul at the Madonna Catholic Church, Nnobi which was presided over by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Onitsha, Most Rev. Valerian Maduka Okeke who was represented by the Episcopal Vicar of Dunukofia Region, Very Rev. Fr. Theophilus Odukwe.

Dozens of Priests, hundreds of sympathizers made of friends and relatives thronged the Madonna Catholic Church to pray for their beloved son, friends, mentor, father and uncle.

The late Architect Greg Ezenwelu’s life which was suddenly cut short at the young age of 61 undoubtedly brought pains and sorrow to those he left behind especially his young children who have been orphaned. They lost their lovely mother, Virginia, about four years ago and had to contend with such a huge loss before death came again to steal their father.

Now, as the saying goes, ‘God is the mother and father of an orphan’. With the mystery of such death, nobody knows or can interpret God’s mind in this situation. But to the believer, all entirely is for good.

The late Architect Ezenwelu attended the Bigard Memorial Seminary, Enugu where he studied philosophy and after leaving Seminary, he variously studied Architecture at the Federal Polytechnic Bida and finally got his MSC in Architecture from the University of Lagos.

A consummate architect and reliable professional the late Architect Greg was known as a peace lover, bridge builder and a versatile analyst of political and economic affairs which earned him the nickname, ‘Prof’.

He was an uncle to the manager of the Regina Pacis Secondary School and St. Rita Catherine School, Rev. Fr. Jerome Ezenwelu.

He left three children namely Chinelo, Nzube, Dubema nd may other relations to mourn him among whom are Chief Erny C. Ezenwelu and Engr Uzodimma Ezenwelu.
